Paris - One of France's most visited tourist attractions, the Eiffel Tower, was evacuated for an hour yesterday because of a bomb alert that proved to be a hoax.
An anonymous phone call to police forced management to evacuate the tower for an hour, but searches unearthed no suspect device. The tower was reopened at 3.15 p.m. (1315 GMT).
The alert follows a similar false alarm at Paris's Orly airport, which was evacuated for several hours on Saturday.
