Scott Hoch birdied the third playoff hole today to win the delayed $5 million Ford Championship over Jim Furyk.
The 47-year-old claimed the $900,000 winners cheque for his 11th PGA Tour victory after play was suspended last night because of bad light.
Ryder Cup team mates Hoch and Furyk had been tied at 17-under-par 271 at the end of 72 holes.
Both players parred the first playoff hole in the twilight last night, the par-four 18th at Doral's Blue Monster Course.
After each player reached the green in three shots on the second hole, the par-five first, Hoch told a tour official that he could no longer see well enough to continue playing.
Furyk and Hoch resumed play at 8 a.m. local time this morning, and both made their birdie putts to force the playoff into a third hole, the 18th.
From a fairway bunker, Furyk hit his second shot on to the green, about 20 feet from the hole. Hoch put his second within six feet. After Furyk missed his birdie attempt, Hoch rolled his into the cup for the win.
