Spurs boss Glenn Hoddle has predicted striker Helder Postiga will be a "massive star" in the future and will not be the only new face at White Hart Lane this summer.

The £6.25 million sterling-valued Portugal international yesterday agreed a five-year deal after UEFA Cup winners Porto accepted Spurs' bid.

"It has been a fantastic signing for us," Hoddle said. "He is someone we have looked at for about 14 months. We have a list of youngsters we have monitored and we are delighted we have got a super young player.

"He is one of the brightest prospects in Europe, and it bodes well for the future of Tottenham".

Hoddle admitted the fee for Postiga was large in the current depressed transfer market, although it will be paid over four years.

Hoddle is planning to bolster his squad further following a disappointing season in which Spurs finished 10th in the premier league table. The London club have won only one trophy, the 1999 League Cup, in the last 12 years.

"We are looking to bring in more players to strengthen our squad. We want to put this club back to where it was was a few years ago," Hoddle said.
