Dublin Corporation has secured a temporary High Court order directing a developer to preserve a site at Drumcondra where, it is claimed, a former residence of James Joyce once stood. A building on the site was demolished earlier this week.
The order was sought yesterday by Ms Deirdre Kennedy, for the corporation. Mr Justice O'Sullivan granted a temporary injunction against MX Systems Ltd, effective until Monday next.
The order directs the preservation of the site of Nos 1 and 2 Millbourne Avenue, Drumcondra, until further court order. In evidence, Mr Michael Heffernan, enforcement officer, Dublin Corporation, said there appeared to have been a misunderstanding over planning permission. It was sensible the site should be preserved now pending investigation.
