The Women's Coalition has called for a "zero tolerance" campaign against domestic violence following a year in which 11 women have been murdered in Northern Ireland, writes Gerry Moriarty.
Ms Monica McWilliams, the coalition's Assembly member for South Belfast, said the two most recent murders had deprived 11 children of their mothers. Since the first ceasefires in 1994, Women's Aid had received 25 per cent more calls. "We cannot stand idly while women are being murdered in their homes. This is a serious social problem, which requires a serious political response," said Ms McWilliams.
