Honorary doctorate for Connell

The Archbishop of Dublin, Dr Desmond Connell, is to receive an honorary doctorate from the National University of Ireland.

The Archbishop of Dublin, Dr Desmond Connell, is to receive an honorary doctorate from the National University of Ireland.

Dr Connell will be made a cardinal in Rome next month.

The NUI Chancellor, Dr Garret FitzGerald, will confer an honorary doctorate of laws (LlD) on Dr Connell in a ceremony on March 20th in St Patrick's Hall, Dublin Castle.

Dr FitzGerald will also confer honorary LlDs on the Chancellor of the University of Limerick, Dr Miriam Hederman O'Brien, and the former Tanaiste and minister, Mr John P. Wilson.
