Pyjamas supplied in hospitals should not have cord and there should be constant supervision for patients with known suicidal tendencies, a Dublin Coroner's Court jury recommended yesterday.
An open verdict was recorded on the death of a 36-year-old Dublin man who was found hanging from a window latch at St Vincent's Hospital, Fairview, on October 6th.
Gardai had brought the man to the hospital in an intoxicated state. He had attempted suicide in the hospital in 1990 and this was on his file.
Hospital staff said he had appeared calm. He was last seen by a nurse 10 minutes before being found hanging by his pyjamas cord.
