THERE IS a saying that you know it is summer in Ireland because the rain is warmer, and so it will be this weekend.
Temperatures of 22 or 23 degrees, normally associated with dry weather, will this weekend be accompanied by more showers as a soggy June continues without respite.
The east and south are likely to experience warm, muggy conditions with the wind coming from the southwest bringing occasional fronts and sporadic showers.
Tomorrow looks like being the best day with spells of sunshine, especially in the morning. It should be quite warm when the sun comes out, especially in Dublin.
“It’s going to be warm, but that’s as good as it gets,” said Met Éireann forecaster Jean Byrne, adding that normal service would resume on Monday with a return to cool, showery conditions.
The north and west, which have had a miserable time, will have no respite, with temperatures struggling to reach 16 degrees. However, she cautioned against those who have already given up on the Irish summer. “It has to turn eventually,” she said
