Bordeaux - The accused French wartime collaborator, Mr Maurice Papon, spent Tuesday night at a rented house near Bordeaux after hotels refused him a room.
Mr Papon, released from jail last Friday for the duration of his trial because of poor health, had been forced out of a luxury hotel. But the fact that he has been excused prison has infuriated the families of Jews he is accused of deporting during the second World War on the orders of Nazi occupiers.
