The Minister for the Environment initiated Freeflow Two yesterday, the second phase of the scheme aimed at relieving Dublin's traffic congestion. The scheme would continue in the city centre and be extended to Ranelagh, Rathmines and Dundrum and key routes into the city, Mr Howlin said. A "high profile" Garda presence, along with the Dublin Transportation Office and three county authorities, will be involved.
The Minister said an extension of the operating hours for to 14 of the city's bus lanes was under "active consideration". He also hoped Dublin Corporation would appoint a director of traffic within the next few weeks. Recruitment for the post was "nearing completion" he said.
