A POSTMORTEM is expected to be carried out today on human remains which were discovered in the foothills of the Dublin mountains yesterday.
Gardaí in Rathfarnham are investigating how the remains came to be located near an area known as “Viewing Point” on the Military Road, where they were discovered by a hillwalker yesterday.
The scene of the discovery was sealed off yesterday in advance of an examination by a member of the State pathologist’s office.
It is thought the remains may have been in position for some time. It was unclear whether the remains had been in place for a matter of months or if they had lain in their current position for much longer. Gardaí said they would not be commenting further on the discovery pending technical examination of the site and the remains and the completion of a detailed postmortem.
