Hundreds of mourners attended the funeral of cancer treatment campaigner Cathy Durkin in Dublin this morning.
The 41-year-old died after leading a campaign to make cancer drug Ipilimumab available to those with malignant melanoma.
Ms Durkin is survived by her husband Michael, three children, Alex (11), Alyssa (8) and Conor (4), and her parents, sisters and brother.
Fr Eoin McCrystal, parish priest at the Holy Trinity Church in Donaghmede, told mourners this morning Ms Durkin had determination, compassion and genuinely cared for others. He said her family could be very proud of her and all that she achieved.
Ms Durkin, who died on Saturday morning at St Vincent's Hospital in Dublin was diagnosed with ocular melanoma last year.
She went public with her story last April after discovering cancer drug Ipilimumab was not available in the health system.
As a result of her campaigning, the drug - which had been deemed too expensive - was made available to cancer sufferers.
