Hundreds of mourners gathered at St Senan's Church, Clonlara, Co Clare, yesterday for the funeral of 35-year-old William Quane, who was killed in a crash last Saturday on his way to the Ireland-Italy rugby international in Dublin. Four people died when two cars travelling in opposite directions collided.
Mr Quane and a work colleague at Dell, Seán O'Donoghue (37), died in one car, and a third man survived.
In the other car, a young Pole and his Italian girlfriend both died. David Dziemianowicz (21) and Marika Rossi (24) were in a rented car.
The third man in Mr Quane's car, Niall Furlong, of Canal bank, Limerick, is recovering at the Midlands Hospital in Tullamore where his condition is described as stable.
Mr Quane was buried in Doonass Cemetery. Many of those who attended also attended the removal on Monday night of Mr O'Donoghue, Lisaleen, Patrickswell, Co Limerick. He will be buried today at the Church of The Blessed Virgin Patrickswell.
