Hundreds of people are expected to take to the freezing waters off Co Wicklow this week for the 25th annual New Year's Day charity swim.
Organisers are hoping to raise a record €25,000 for various charities throughout the county.
Groups benefiting from the swim over the years include Bray Cancer Support, Bray Women's Refuge, Guide Dogs for the Blind, and Dublin's Loughlinstown Hospital.
"With many of the swimmers turning out in fancy dress, this is always a very enjoyable and colourful event," said organiser John McEvoy.
"Being our 25th Swim, this will be an extra-special occasion."
Last year's seasonal splash raised €15,869 and €190,000 has been raised to date.
Charities benefiting this year include the Bray Lions' Old Folks Committee and the Five Loaves Homeless support group.
"The organisers would be delighted to hear from any volunteers ready to brave the waves on behalf of this year's nominated charities," Mr McEvoy said.
The swim gets under way at 12 noon.
