The Institute of Chartered Accountants in Ireland (ICAI) has announced the exclusion of one of its members following a hearing of by a public disciplinary tribunal.
Mr John Joyce who formerly practiced in Cork was excluded from membership of the Institute for misappropriating, or misapplying, clients' monies for his own personal use without the knowledge and consent of the clients and that he deliberately falsified the books of account of clients for his own ends.
Exclusion from membership means that Mr Joyce is no longer able to describe himself as a Chartered Accountant and any licences or authorisations issued by the Institute which are dependent on membership will automatically be revoked on exclusion.
The Institute's bye-laws allow for a 21 day period in which a member can make an appeal but no
appeal has been received in this case as yet.
