The Irish Farmers' Association (IFA) has demanded an immediate meeting with the Taoiseach, Mr Ahern, to discuss the implications of CAP reform agreement signed in Brussels last week.
The Association has also called for the establishment of a taskforce, within the partnership process, for the dairy sector.
The IFA has claimed that the deal signed by Agriculture Minister, Mr Walsh, would put the livelihoods of 10,000 farmers and 3,000 processing workers, at risk.
Speaking after a special meeting of the IFA National Council, IFA President Mr John Dillon called for the meeting with the Taoiseach, and said there was an angry reaction from farmers to "last weeks' bad deal", which would ensure "major cuts" in dairy farmers' incomes.
Irish farmers currently receive, on average, €13,000 per head per annum from the EU.
