Russia supports nuclear Iran
MOSCOW - Russia said yesterday it opposed reporting Iran to the UN Security Council over its nuclear programme, as signs emerged that European support for such a measure could be waning.

Rugova continues Kosovo struggle
BUDAPEST - Ibrahim Rugova, the president of Kosovo and veteran leader of its campaign for independence, vowed yesterday not to let lung cancer stop him trying to secure freedom from Serbia in vital talks this autumn, reports Dan McLaughlin.
Mr Rugova, who for 15 years has urged peaceful resistance to Belgrade's rule in Kosovo, returned from a hospital in Germany.
Surfer survives attack by shark
SYDNEY - An Australian surfer survived a great white shark attack by repeatedly punching the four-metre (13 ft) creature as it mauled his arms and legs.
Jake Heron (40) was surfing off South Australia's Eyre Peninsula on Sunday, when he was attacked as his two children watched from the beach. - (Reuters)
