Man accused of child sex tourism in Haiti
MIAMI – An American man who ran a home for impoverished boys in Haiti has been arrested on charges that he forced them to perform sex acts in exchange for food, shelter and schooling, US prosecutors have said.
Matthew Andrew Carter (66), was arrested in Miami on May 8th. He pleaded not guilty on Thursday to four counts of child sex tourism or travelling in foreign commerce to engage in illicit sex with minors. – (Reuters)
Zimbabwean minister arrested
HARARE – Zimbabwe police have arrested a senior ally of prime minister Morgan Tsvangirai on unspecified charges, a spokesman has said.
Mr Tsvangirai’s spokesman Luke Tamborinyoka said the police had arrested Jameson Timba, a minister in Mr Tsvangirai’s office, yesterday afternoon soon after his arrival from a visit to Spain.
Mr Timba was with Mr Tsvangirai on the European trip. A police spokesman said he had no details on the arrest. – (Reuters)
