Union defers decision on ballot

The trade union representing lower-paid civil servants has deferred a decision on a new ballot on the Croke Park deal on public service pay and reform.

The executive of the Civil Public and Services Union (CPSU) is to consider the issue again next month.

Last month the CPSU, whose members had voted to reject the Croke Park deal, announced that it would hold a new ballot in September.

However, the decision of the executive of the CPSU yesterday followed a move on Wednesday in which the Croke Park deal was ratified by the general council negotiating forum for the Civil Service.
