Marks & Spencer's Irish stores to start selling branded products

Marks & Spencer is to start selling branded food products in its Irish stores for the first time. The UK-owned store says up to 450 branded grocery and household products will be available in all 20 of its Irish stores by the middle of this month.

The retailer, which traditionally differed from its rivals by selling only goods under the M&S label, started freeing up its shelves to well-known branded goods in Britain last year and has now adopted the same policy in Ireland.

The selection will vary according to the store size and will include international brands like Coca-Cola and Kellogg’s, and Irish brands, including Tayto, Flahavan’s and Barry’s Tea.

M&S promises the products will be competitively priced and it will attempt to match the prices charged by other big retailers. It says no M&S products will be delisted or replaced.
