The body of Ms Scanlon (48), a separated mother-of-three, from Clara, Co Offaly, was discovered at her home in Valley Court, Athlone, on May 9th.

Extension of Ennis hospital approved
Planning permission was yesterday granted to the HSE for a €15 million, 50-bed extension to Ennis General Hospital, writes Gordon Deegan.
Last night, the HSE confirmed that work would start on the project “before the end of the year with approximately a six-month timeframe for completion”.
However, the plan represents a net increase of only two beds at the hospital as the development replaces old structures.
It also follows the hospital losing 25 acute beds in September last year as a result of the closure of its 24-hour AE operations and the loss of its acute surgery function.
