Gardai appeal for information after serious assault in Limerick
A MAN in his thirties was in hospital in Limerick last night following a serious assault in the city.
The victim was injured following an incident on Upper Glentworth Street at 8.30pm yesterday. It’s understood he suffered injuries to his head and his condition was described as serious. Two men, aged 22 and 19 were being held for questioning at Henry Street Garda station yesterday. Gardaí are appealing for anyone who may have witnessed the assault or been in the area at the time to contact them on 061 212400.
TDs open to linking up with Sinn Fein
INDEPENDENT TDs Finian McGrath and Maureen O'Sullivan have confirmed they are open to forming a technical group in the Dáil with Sinn Féin, following Pearse Doherty's election in Donegal South West, writes Mary Minihan
Dublin Central deputy Maureen O'Sullivan has not been approached by any Sinn Féin representatives but Mr McGrath, who represents Dublin North Central, said he was contacted.
Mr Doherty's success on Friday brings to five the number of Sinn Féin TDs, with a total of seven deputies being required to form a technical group. Such groups have similar entitlements to political parties, with the right to participate in leaders questions and some private members' business.
200,000 expected at Cork Parade
