Bunker may hold live ammunition
A bunker, possibly holding live ammunition and possibly dating back to the 1940s, was uncovered in Co Donegal yesterday by county council workmen working on a planned car park extension. The find was in a shed behind Beedy's pub in Dungloe. It is thought to have been used in the past to hold dynamite, gelignite and fuses.
David Mullis of Beedy's Bar said the bunker had been in the backyard for years. "During the 1970s gardaí used to stand outside it at night, when there was IRA activity at its height."
