Tribunal gives hotel waitress €29,000
A Co Offaly hotel waitress who claimed she was subjected to consistent bad language and bullying has been awarded €29,000 in compensation by an Employment Appeals Tribunal, writes Andrew Bushe.
The tribunal found that Kathleen O'Dea, Ballincur, Kinnitty, Birr, was unfairly dismissed by the Kinnitty Hotel in Birr.
The hotel did not appear at the hearing involving the claim in Tullamore on July 2nd, the tribunal said yesterday.
It said the loss of Ms O'Dea's job "had taken such a toll on her confidence that she had not been able to seek other employment".
On the basis of her uncontradicted evidence, the tribunal found Ms O'Dea was unfairly dismissed and awarded her €29,000.
