Man still beingquestioned on Clontarf death
Gardaí are continuing to a question a 41-year-old man in connection with the death of a man in Clontarf, Dublin, last week.
The body of Finbar Dennehy (50) was found at his apartment. A postmortem revealed that he died of a single stab wound. His hands were tied and a bag was over his head.
The man, who was arrested on Saturday evening, is being questioned under section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act. Gardaí were given a further 12 hours yesterday afternoon to question him.
Man (20) killed in Schull named
A 20-year-old man who was killed early on Saturday morning when his motor cycle collided with a pole in Schull, Co Cork, has been named as Ingus Zemgalis (20), Lowertown, Schull, Cork. No other vehicle was involved in the crash.
Diver missing at Killary harbour
A search is due to resume today for a diver who was reported missing at the mouth of Killary harbour, Co Galway, yesterday.
The man, was one of a party of three diving east of Inishbarna island at the mouth of the fjord. He was last seen at a depth of 25 metres at about 2.30pm.
When the alarm was raised, the Irish Coast Guard station at Malin Head, Co Donegal, called out the Clifden RNLI lifeboats, the Cleggan and Westport Coast Guard units and the Sligo- based Irish Coast Guard Sikorsky rescue helicopter.
Two drugs finds in midlands
Gardaí in Co Offaly are investigating two drug finds over the weekend.
In Tullamore, cannabis herb and resin worth €15,000 was discovered at a house in Marian Place on Saturday. A 23-year-old man was arrested and released without charge.
In Westmeath, cannabis herb with an estimated street value of €14,000 was discovered on Friday in a housing estate in Killbeggan. A 25-year-old man was questioned and released without charge.
Man in court over aircraft incident
A 20-year-old man has appeared before Limerick District Court in connection with an incident on board a flight that forced the pilot to make an unscheduled landing in Shannon airport early yesterday morning.
The man was on board a flight from Gatwick to Montego Bay in Jamaica. It is understood he had to be restrained on board after he became aggressive.
The pilot landed the flight in Shannon where gardaí were waiting to arrest him. He was remanded in custody to appear again before Limerick District Court tomorrow.
The flight with more than 300 passengers left Shannon yesterday afternoon.
