Arrest after body found below cliff
A 24-year-old man has been arrested after police discovered a body at the bottom of a cliff in north Belfast. The victim was found below a part of the Cavehill Mountain known as "Napoleon's Nose" on Saturday.
He is a local man but his identity has not yet been revealed. A postmortem is being carried out to find out how the man, believed to be in his 30s, died.
Police have said he had dark hair and was wearing blue jeans, a blue jumper, desert boots and a green Barbour jacket.
PSNI detectives are continuing to question the suspect. - (PA)
Gardaí name road crash victim
Gardaí have named the man who died in a fatal road collision on Friday at Glenealy, Co Wicklow, as Lucian Disca ( 25), of South Circular Road, Dublin.
The crash took place just after 5pm and involved a car and a lorry. Mr Disca was taken to Loughlinstown Hospital.
The driver of the lorry was not injured. Any person who witnessed this collision is asked to contact Wicklow gardaí on 0404-60140.
Man critical after street assault
A man was last night in a critical condition in Beaumont Hospital after an assault in Wicklow in the early hours of yesterday morning.
No one was arrested in relation to the incident, which took place at about 4.30am in Bridge Street in the town.
The injured man was removed to Loughlinstown hospital but was later transferred to Beaumont where a spokeswoman described his condition as still critical.
Schoolteacher's funeral today
The funeral takes place today of the Co Galway schoolteacher who was killed in an accident in Thailand on Wednesday.
Jennifer Whiriskey (26) died after an accident she sustained on a quad bike, while on holidays in Thailand.
Ms Whiriskey, a primary schoolteacher from Ardrahan, was understood to have been on a gap year from work and was travelling with her boyfriend when the accident occurred.
Her funeral Mass takes place today a 1pm at St Teresa's Church, Labane.
SF dismisses fan over pub violence
A member of Sinn Féin who attacked a pub in Derry has been dismissed from the party. Football fan Francis O'Reilly (29) is serving three months in prison in the North for targeting the Tavern Bar on the edge of the loyalist Fountain estate last Monday.
The bar was left covered in broken glass after it was pelted with missiles by Bohemians' fans at the Eircom League Cup Final play-off with Derry City.
A spokesman for Sinn Féin said: "He was a member of a local branch of Sinn Féin in Dublin . . . once it was realised that he was a member, he was summarily dismissed." - (PA)
€1.5m private art collection on show
A €1.5 million private art collection containing works by Louis Le Brocquy and Jack B Yeats has gone on display for the first time in Cork. The collection of Cork obstetrician JB Kearney, who died last year aged 90, is being exhibited at the Hayfield Manor Hotel in the city prior to being put on the market.
