A round-up of today's other stories in brief.
French strike causes delays of flights
Aer Lingus and Ryanair passengers experienced delays on flights to and from Paris yesterday, writes Genevieve Carbery.
A day of industrial action by French air-traffic controllers caused the disruption, which resulted in 90-minute delays on some flights using French air space, including flights to Spain.
Disruption of timetables between Dublin and France was expected to continue until 6am this morning, according to Dublin Airport Authority. Aer Lingus and Ryanair do not expect their morning flights to be affected and all airlines are expected to catch up with delays during the morning.
There were also some delays at Cork airport.
The State's prison officers plan to take industrial action over a dispute about clocking-in and security checks. The Prison Officers' Association last night told the Irish Prison Service that it had sanctioned industrial action, beginning with a one-hour work stoppage on Friday, November 30th.
At the moment, prison officers are allowed to take 10 minutes to pass through security procedures. Prison officers say new security procedures will take longer to perform, and they should be paid from when they arrive at work. The Prison Service says that until staff pass the security procedures, they are not ready for duty and are not in a position to clock in.
Man shot in stomach in Donegal
A man who was shot in a remote country area in Donegal yesterday walked to a nearby house to raise the alarm, writes Paddy Clancy.
The man, in his late 20s, walked unaided despite being shot in the stomach at 2am after being taken to an area at Stramore near Churchill, Co Donegal.
He was rushed to Letterkenny General Hospital where he underwent surgery before being transferred to the Mater hospital in Dublin. His condition was described last night as "stable".
The man was believed to have been taken by three people from an address in Letterkenny to the scene of the attack, 20km (12.4 miles) away. Gardaí said they were "keeping an open mind" on the shooting.
Mother of Michael Lowry dies
The death has taken place of Esther (Essie) Lowry, mother of Independent Tipperary North TD and former Fine Gael minister for transport Michael Lowry.
The removal of the remains of Mrs Lowry (86), of the Green Holycross, Co Tipperary, took place last night to the Cistercian Abbey in Holycross. The funeral Mass takes this morning with burial in the adjoining cemetery.

A man (35) who was involved in a fatal accident that resulted in the death of a former county hurler Georgie Johnson earlier this month appeared at Wicklow Court yesterday charged with drink driving.
Anthony Leahy, Vartry Heights, Roundwood, was charged with drink driving at Main Street, Roundwood, on November 4th. He was remanded on bail to appear in court on January 14th.
Two arrested in shooting inquiry
Gardaí investigating the fatal shooting of car dealer Brian Downes and companion Edward Ward last month arrested a man and a woman in Dublin yesterday.
Downes, an underworld figure, and Ward, an innocent bystander, were gunned down as they talked near Downes's home.
The pair arrested last night were being held at Crumlin and Sundrive Road Garda stations under Section 30 of the Offences Against the State Act.
