Men released after death of young woman
Two men who were questioned following the death of a young woman in Finglas, Dublin, two days before Christmas have been released by gardaí, pending the preparation of a file for the Director of Public Prosecutions, writes John Downes
A spokesman for the Garda press office confirmed that officers had launched an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the death on December 23rd. He could not say whether the death was drugs related.
RTÉ news reported that the woman was with a group of friends in the Ardmore Hotel, Finglas, when she collapsed and was subsequently pronounced dead at the Mater hospital.
Man charged after Meath stabbing
A 26-year-old man has appeared before Dublin District Court charged in relation to the stabbing of another man in Co Meath on Christmas Day. Glen Dempsey, with an address at Granley House, Dublin city, was charged with assault causing serious harm.
He was remanded with consent to bail to reappear before Cloverhill Court on Friday. The incident occurred at a private house at approximately 11am at Mornington Park, Co Meath.
Woman arrested after assault
Gardaí in Drogheda, Co Louth, have arrested a 23-year-old woman in relation to an assault at Rowan Heights, Marley's Lane, Drogheda, at approximately 3am yesterday.
A 29-year-old-man was discovered in a driveway in the housing estate with serious head injuries. He was taken to Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital, Drogheda, but was later transferred to Beaumont Hospital. His condition is described as critical.
Passenger dies in single-car crash
Gardaí in Templemore, Co Tipperary, are investigating a fatal road traffic collision at approximately 9.45pm on Monday, December 24th, at Cooleeney, Moyne, Thurles. It involved a single vehicle with two occupants.
The passenger, a 59-year-old woman, died. Her name was not released last night.
Gardaí recover body from lake
Gardaí have recovered the body of a 71-year-old man from a lake in Co Clare. Searches for the man, who was from the Lannaught area, began on Christmas Day when he was reported missing.
