NATO has detained a Bosnian Serb indicted by the U.N. war crimes tribunal in The Hague for war crimes committed against Muslims in 1995.
A statement from the NATO Secretary General George Robertson, posted on the NATO Web site, saidthe Stabilization Force (SFOR) had detained Dragan Obrenovic, who was under a "sealedindictment" for crimes committed between July and November 1995.
It did not give details of the arrest, but added that Obrenovic was being processed for transferto The Hague. The tribunal issues unpublicized "sealed indictments" to avoid alerting suspects totheir possible arrest.
SFOR officials in Sarajevo declined to comment.
A spokeswoman for the U.N. mission in Sarajevo said the only information she had was astatement from Bosnian Serb police in the eastern town of Zvornik that Obrenovic had been"abducted" Sunday in nearby town of Kozluk.
"Three armed men and one woman abducted Major Dragan Obrenovic, who was commander ofZvornik, at 14:30 today," spokeswoman Kate Frieson told Reuters, quoting fromthe statement by Bosnian Serb police.
