Indonesia's embattled President Abdurrahman Wahid said today he would not hand more powers to his deputy Ms Megawati Sukarnoputri as she had already been given enough responsibilities.

"No, that agreement was reached a long time ago. The vice-president has already been given responsibility for the pdaily running of the government," President Wahid told reporters.
When asked a second time on delegating more power he replied: "No, more power of what? I have given everything to her."
President Wahid's grip on the leadership has become increasingly tenuous following his second censure by parliament last month over financial scandals.
Some politicians - supporters and opponents alike - have suggested greater power-sharing as a way to defuse a growing crisis.
President Wahid also told reporters he would not respond to the second censure.
