Industrial production continued to grow strongly in the early part of this year, figures released by the Central Statistics Office this morning revealed.
According to the figures, the seasonally adjusted volume of production from December to February was up 15.9 per cent on the previous three months.
On an annual basis production for all industries in February was 22.3 per cent on the same month last year.
The modern sector - which includes high-tech and chemical industries - showed an annual increase in production for February of 30.3 per cent while a more modest increase of 6.8 per cent was recorded in the traditional Sector.
The seasonally adjusted industrial turnover for manufacturing industries was 14.4 per cent higher in the three month period from December to February when compared with the preceding three month period.
On an annual basis turnover in February was 9.0 per cent higher than in February 2006.
