The seasonally adjusted volume of industrial production for manufacturing industries rose by 0.6 per cent in the three months from May to July compared with the previous three-month period according to the Central Statistics Office (CSO).
The CSO said production in July was 12.1 per cent higher than in July of the preceding year. This is the third successive month of double-digit annual percentage growth.
It said industrial turnover for manufacturing industries was down 4.2 per cent for the three month period May to July 2002 when compared with the preceding three month period. Turnover in July 2002 was 1.9% higher than in July 2001.
In separate figures, the CSO said there were 8,487 days lost due to industrial disputes during the second quarter of 2002. This compares to 19,706 days lost for the same period last year. The 7 disputes in progress in the second quarter of 2002 involved 8 organisations and 1,463 workers, it said.
