Industrial production rose by almost 13 per cent between January and March 2007, new figures have shown.
According to the Central Statistics Office, the seasonally adjusted volume of industrial production for manufacturing industries increased by 12.9 per cent on the preceding quarter.
Year on year, this represented a 9.8 per cent rise for all industries in March. Broken down into spearate sectors, the "modern" sector, which includes high-technology and chemical business, increased production for March by 12.1 per cent, while the "traditional" sector saw only 4.4 per cent growth.
Seasonally adjusted industrial turnover figures for manufacturing industries were up 11.7 per cent in the three-month period compared to the previous quarter.
