Industrial production rose by 15

Industrial production rose by 15.1 per cent in volume for the year 2000 according to figures released today by the Central Statistics Office.

The year-on-year increases for November and December were 23 per cent and 19.7 per cent respectively. The CSO found production for the three months ending December 2000 was 8.8 per cent above that for the preceding three-month period.

Over 35 per cent of the production increases were recorded for capital goods with 20.1 per cent intermediate products and 3.1 per cent for consumer goods.

The sharpest rise was in the electrical machinery and apparatus sector, where production rose by 63.3 per cent.
