Durban - South Africa's Zulu-based Inkatha Freedom Party (IFP) yesterday withdrew from talks to end bitter decadelong turf wars with President Nelson Mandela's African National Congress (ANC).
The Inkatha chairman, Mr Ben Ngubane, cited the bias shown against his party at Truth and Reconciliation Commission hearings this week as the main reason. Chief Mangosuthu Buthelezi, the Inkatha leader and Home Affairs Minister in Mr Mandela's cabinet, was accused at the hearings of knowing about killings carried out by IFPaligned hit squads. - (Reuter)
