Inquests into the deaths of three Dublin men who died violently in separate incidents this year were opened and adjourned at Dublin County Coroner's Court yesterday. Two of the men were shot dead. The third was stabbed.
The court, sitting in Tallaght, heard that a postmortem on the body of Thomas McDonagh (28), who was shot dead at St Mark's Crescent, Clondalkin, in February, found that he died of multiple gunshot wounds.
Coroner Dr Kieran Geraghty said he would issue a death certificate to this effect and on the application of Det Insp Pat Lordan adjourned the inquest for a year to allow inquiries to continue.
An inquest was also opened and adjourned into the death of Damien Dowdall (22), who was shot at his home at Lealand Road, Clondalkin, in January, when two men called to the house and forced their way inside.
Dr Geraghty said the postmortem report indicated he died from gunshot wounds to the head and body, and he would issue a death certificate to this effect. He also adjourned this inquest to July next year to allow Garda inquiries in the case continue.
An inquest into the death of father-of-five Michael Gallagher, who was stabbed at his partner's home in Tallaght in January, was also adjourned for a year.
Dr Geraghty extended his sympathy to the deceased's families.
