An investigation into the death of Bernadette Connolly (10), whose body was discovered in a Co Roscommon bog in 1970, is to be reviewed.
The Garda Commissioner has appointed the Assistant Commissioner for the Northern Region Kieran Kenny to examine the investigation file in the case.
Connolly was abducted from near her home in Collooney on April 17th, 1970, while cycling to a neighbour's house.
Almost four months later, her body was found in a bog on the side of the Curlew Mountains.

It is suspected she may have been sexually assaulted.
Despite a massive investigation during which more than 2,300 males were fingerprinted, the killer was never found.
