The wreckage of the light aircraft which crashed onto a golf course in west Dublin on Sunday was removed yesterday by the accident investigation unit of the Department of Enterprise. A report on the investigation will be issued within 12 months.

Three men aboard the aircraft and an ambulance worker with Dublin Fire Brigade were injured.

The four-seater Tampico TB9 single-engined aircraft crashed at Lucan Golf Club. Yesterday, a spokesman for AIB confirmed that two of the three men on board were AIB employees. It is believed the third was a son of one of them.

The aircraft had taken off from Weston Aerodrome in Leixlip, Co Kildare, under an independent operator with a private licence.

Two of the injured were taken to the burns unit of St James's Hospital, Dublin, where their condition was said to be stable. The third passenger was in a comfortable condition after undergoing surgery.

The ambulanceman, Mr Mark Hyland, of Tallaght Fire Station, was taken to the James Connolly Memorial Hospital, Blanchardstown, and kept in for observation. He had crawled into the aircraft to attend the injured passengers and aviation fuel had run on to his leg. A spokesman for the Dublin Fire Brigade said the fuel could cause a chemical effect on the skin.
