Gardaí are continuing their investigation today into an armed robbery and fire at a well-known Dublin pub early yesterday morning.
An armed gang took €50,000 from a safe at the Players Lounge, Fairview, Dublin, after about 2.20am yesterday. The gang threatened the bar manager and tied him up.
The fire, which started in two locations in the premises, quickly took hold and caused extensive damage to the building's interior.
The owner of the establishment is publican John Stokes (54) whose son is Irish soccer international Anthony Stokes. The Celtic player (23) was socialising in the pub just hours before the robbery and fire.

It took several hours to bring the fire under control. The pub was extensively renovated some four years ago.
