The new dean of Christ Church was appointed at a service in the Cathedeal this evening. The Very Revd Desmond Harman was also instituted as rector of the Christ Church Cathedral group of parishes.
Those present for the ceremony included representatives of church and state and was to include the newly-retired Cardinal Desmond Connell, Coadjutor Archbishop Diarmuid Martin and the papal nuncio, the Most Revd Giuseppe Lazzarotto.
The address was given by Archdeacon Gordon Linney, Rector of Glenageary.
Commenting on his installation the new Dean said, "I feel greatly honoured to be asked to be dean of Christ Church. Over many centuries the cathedral has been a unique place of prayer and today is well known as a vibrant place of worship."
