London - Litigation, a 10-letter word with an 11-point Scrabble board score, is scheduled to become the name of the game for Mattel Inc and J.W. Spear and Sons plc, producers of the world's most famous word game.
They are heading for the High Court in an action aimed at stopping the name "Scrabble" from being used on an Internet website.
Mattel and Spear have issued a writ seeking a court order banning Aspect Internet Marketing Ltd of Bentinck Street, London W1, and Nominet UK, of St Giles, Oxford, from using the Internet domain name "Scrabble co.uk", operating a website called "Scrabble.co.uk", providing games or information at the site, and from assigning the name to anyone other than J.W. Spear. - (PA)
