Gardai in Galway have sought the help of Interpol in tracing the killers of a man who was stabbed to death near the city centre earlier this month.
They are particularly interested in finding two American men who stayed in a hostel in the general vicinity of where Mr Malcolm O'Shaughnessy (22) was killed early on August 1st.
A senior Garda spokesman said gardai believe the two "hippie-type" men left the State shortly after the stabbing.
Mr O'Shaughnessy was with five other men when they became involved in an altercation with two men before the stabbing took place at William Street West.
Chief Supt Tom Monaghan said gardai were anxious to trace two Americans - believed to be from California - who were staying in the Arch Hostel.
Interpol will attempt to make contact with the two men over the coming days.
This is just one line of inquiry being pursued, he added.
