Irish technology firm Iona has been ranked 31st amongst the 500 fastest growing European companies in a survey compiled by the Brussels-based association GrowthPlus.
"High growth companies such as Iona are the drivers of employment. We need more of these types of businesses and entrepreneurs in Europe," declared Mr Robin Lokerman, executive director of GrowthPlus.
GrowthPlus measures companies primarily by employment growth over a minimum of three years.
The current Europe 500 report also found that key business sectors in Europe showing growth are Internet, computer software and hardware; business services; consumer services, communications; medical and health sectors.
Iona had revenues of $153 million in 2000 and employs more than 900 people in 30 offices worldwide.
