It has been reported that the IRA will announce within the next two days that it has begun decommissioning its arms.
According to RTÉ News, citing "trustworthy" sources, two statements will be released over the "next 24 to 48 hours".
One of these is expected to be from the IRA saying it has put its arsenal of weapons "verifiably beyond use".
Another statement is anticipated to come from General John de Chastelain, head of the International Independent Commission on Decommissioning, confirming the IRA had begun the process.
