United Nations - Iraq has urged the UN Secretary-General to intervene to halt a "low-intensity, high-tech" air campaign by the US and Britain which, it says, is designed to inflict damage without arousing international opposition.

"The United States and the United Kingdom are still intent on implementing their policy of brutal aggression against the people, government, national sovereignty and territorial integrity of Iraq," the deputy Prime Minister, Mr Tareq Aziz, said in a letter to Mr Kofi Annan yesterday.
