A roadside bomb in the northern city of Samarra killed two US soldiers today to bring the US death toll since the beginning of the war to 902.
Unofficial figures put the number of Iraqi civilians killed at between 11,252 and 13,213. Between 4,895 and 6,370 Iraqi military personnel have also been killed in the conflict.
Earlier this week, US forces and militants engaged in running gunbattles in Samarra, 60 miles north of Baghdad. Four Iraqis were killed and five were wounded, said a hospital official.
