Ireland 36 Wales 15
Ireland ran out convincing 36-15 winners against Wales in their Six Nations clash at Lansdowne Road this afternoon.
Despite the visitors rallying with a couple of tries in the latter stages of the match, a controlled Irish side had effectively won the game by the interval.
Shane Byrne went over for Ireland's first try after just two minutes and that effectively set the scene for Ireland's dominance throughout the afternoon.
Byrne, who was named man of the match, didn't have long to wait for his second try of the match. And when the returning Brian O'Driscoll and Ronan O'Gara also touched down in the first period, Ireland went into the break with a comfortable 24-3 lead.
In the second half Anthony Foley got onto the score sheet and the purposeful O'Driscoll scored his second try of the afternoon with O'Gara converting three of Ireland's six tries.
Wales never got into the match from the outset but they did score two consolation tries, through Tom Shanklin, in the last 10 minutes.
