Republic of Ireland striker Alan Lee has agreed terms with Cardiff City and is set to join the Division One side from league rivals Rotherham tomorrow.
He will sign for an initial fee of £850,000, although that figure could top £1.2 million depending on appearances and goals scored and also whether Cardiff win promotion to the Premiership.
Rotherham had turned down a Cardiff bid during the summer but were forced to accept an improved offer during the week after Lee handed in a transfer request.
Cardiff manager Lennie Lawrence said he was "delighted" with the transfer and confirmed that Lee - once on the books at Aston Villa - will undergo a medical at the club tomorrow.
Lee has proved a formidable striker in the Nationwide League, netting 41 goals in 122 appearances for Rotherhamm, and Lawrence is a keen admirer of the Galway man's talents.
"He will bring strength to our attack. He also has pace and the ability to hold the ball up. He can attack defenders, he has a decent goalscoring record. He will also provide severe competition for places at Cardiff".
The 24-year-old (he turns 25 next week) made his Republic of Ireland debut in the friendly international against Norway in April and was a last-minute substitute in the recent Euro 2004 qualifier win over Georgia.
