A 15-year-old boy has died after the car he was travelling in hit a tree in Clondalkin, Dublin 22, on Saturday night.
The single vehicle crash happened at around 10pm when the car mounted the footpath and hit a tree. The boy was taken to Tallaght Hospital where he was later pronounced dead.
The four other boys travelling in the car, all aged between 14 and 16, suffered non life threatening injuries.
Three of them were taken to Tallaght hospital, while a fourth was taken to Our Lady’s Children's Hospital, Crumlin in a serious condition.
The Dublin Fire Brigade and National Ambulance Service attended the scene, where Station Road was closed for a short while for forensic investigators. It has since reopened.
