Firefighters in central Dublin rescued four adults and a child from the top floor of a burning apartment in the north of the city on Sunday evening.
Two of the people were treated in hospital for smoke inhalation after the fire at Gardiner Place, a Garda spokesman said. There were no suspicious circumstances in connection with the incident, he added.
Dublin Fire Brigade said the five people were taken from the building by firefighters using a turntable ladder. Paramedics treated six people at the scene.
The street was closed to traffic as firefighters battled the blaze in the four-storey building.
